Grant Park

A Grant Parkban tett látogatásunk szerintünk egy csodás élmény volt mindannyiunknak számára. Ahogy kiértünk Chicago forgalmas, mozgalmas utcáiról a parkban egy nyugodt környezetre találtunk. Meglepődésünkre egy nagyon karbantartott, szépen gondozott terület fogadott.

Kedveljük a nagyvárosokat és a nyüzsgést, de ennek ellenére mindig jól esik a csönd és a nyugalom; a Grant Park olyan, akárcsak egy csendes szünet a világunkból.

A Buckingham Fountain-nél is jártunk,ami egy gyönyörűen kidolgozott szökőkút teli szebbnél, szebb szoborral és ábrázolással. A szökőkút melegebb időkben, nyaranta szép vizitáncot és fény játékot is kínál, amihez ezúttal sajnos nem volt szerencsénk.

Tovább sétálva több helyen is megálltunk, hogy élvezzük a város panorámáját. Megfigyelésünk szerint a virágos kertek, árnyékos fák és modern szobrok különleges egységben voltak. Az embereken jól látszott, hogy a Grant Park valódi közösségi tér, mivel voltak akik futottak vagy kutyát sétáltattak és végezték a mindennapi tehendőiket.

Jó volt látni a Grant Park nyugodtságát és az emberek nyitottságát.

Cloud Gate

A chicagói Cloud Gate, vagy ahogyan mi is megismertük, „The Bean”, egy nagyon egyedi és különleges látványosság amit a kedvenceim közé sorolnék. Már a családok, akiknél voltunk, mesélték, hogy messziről feltűnik alakjával, ahogy tükrözi a város égboltját, meg a körülötte elterülő Millennium Parkot és, hogy ez az a látványosság amit mindenképpen meg kell nézzünk. Amikor közeledtünk láttuk, hogy milyen szépen visszatükröződünk mi is és a sok magas épület is. 

Hallottunk egy olyan állitást is, hogy ha a Bean közepe alá állunk, a hangok különösen érdekes módon fognak visszaverődni, ezt mi ki is próbáltuk és hasonlóak voltak a hangok egy messzi visszhanghoz. 

Rengeteg ember fotózkodott és várta, hogy üresedjen a hely a jobb fotók érdekében, akárcsak mi.
A Cloud Gate akárcsak egy találkozási pont, egy hely, ahol megáll az ember egy pillanatra, és új szemmel néz önmagára és a világra. Lenyűgözött az elgondolkodtató üzenet, amit közvetít: mindannyian részei vagyunk valami nagyobbnak, és ebben a tükörvilágban együtt létezünk.

Walk on the Magnificent Mile

A Magnificent Mile-on tett első sétánk egy hihetetlen élmény volt!

Ez az utca, a Michigan Avenue mentén található, tele van gyönyörű épületekkel, előkelő boltokkal és klasszikus kávézókkal. Ahogy végigsétáltunk, megcsodáltuk a Tribune Tower-t és a Wrigley Building-et, amelyek lenyűgöző példái Chicago építészeti gazdagságának.

A kirakatokat nézegetve úgy éreztük, mintha egy amerikai filmbe csöppentünk volna. Az utcákon turisták és helyiek mindennapos nyüzsgése. Nekünk személy szerint a Nike bolt tetszett a legjobban, mivel nem láttunk még emeletes Nike boltot, és ez nagy újdonság volt számunkra.

Egy ponton leültünk egy kávézóban, és csak figyeltük az embereket. Hihetetlen, hogy mennyi féle ember van a világon, és mennyi stílus. A Magnificent Mile nemcsak a vásárlásról szól, hanem a város igazi arcát is megmutatja, a magas és modern épületekkel.

Lights, Metal & High Rises – Strolling Through Chicago

Grant Park

I believe our visit to Grant Park was a wonderful experience for all of us. As we left the busy, crowded streets of Chicago behind, we found ourselves in a peaceful and calming place. To our surprise, the park was exceptionally well-maintained and beautifully landscaped. 

Personally, I enjoy big cities and the hustle and bustle of urban life, but I still appreciate moments of quiet and peace—and Grant Park felt like a calm retreat from the rest of the world.

We also visited Buckingham Fountain, a beautifully designed fountain adorned with elegant statues and artistic details. In the warmer months, the fountain puts on an impressive water and light show, which unfortunately we didn’t get to see this time.

As we continued our walk, we paused several times to enjoy the panoramic views of the city. We noticed how the flower gardens, shady trees, and modern sculptures all came together in perfect harmony. It was clear from the people around us that Grant Park is a true community space—some were jogging, others walking their dogs, all going about their daily lives.

It was heartwarming to see the tranquility of Grant Park and the openness of the people there.

Cloud Gate

Chicago’s Cloud Gate or as we came to know it, “The Bean” is a truly unique and special attraction, and I would definitely rank it my favorite. Even before visiting, my family I was staying with told me how it stands out from afar, reflecting the city skyline and the surrounding Millennium Park. They said it was one of those sights I absolutely had to see.

As we approached, I could see just how beautifully both us and the towering buildings around us were reflected on its smooth, mirrored surface.

We had also heard that if you stand right beneath the center of the Bean, the sounds will reflect in a particularly interesting way. We tried it out ourselves, and the sounds were similar to a distant echo. 

There were so many people taking photos, waiting patiently for a clear moment just like us to get the perfect shot.

To me, Cloud Gate felt  more than just a sculpture. It was a meeting point, a place to pause for a moment and see yourself and the world with fresh eyes. I was truly amazed by the thoughtful message it seems to convey: that we’re all part of something bigger, and in this mirrored world, we exist together.

Walk on the Magnificent Mile

Our first walk along the Magnificent Mile was an incredible experience! This street, located along Michigan Avenue, is full of beautiful buildings, upscale stores, and classic cafés. As we strolled, we admired the Tribune Tower and the Wrigley Building, both stunning examples of Chicago’s rich architectural heritage.

Looking into the shop windows, we felt like we had stepped into an American movie. The streets were buzzing both with tourists and locals going about their day.

Personally, my favorite was the Nike store. I had never seen a multi-level Nike store before, so it was something totally new and exciting for me.

At one point, I sat down at a café and just watched the people passing by. It’s amazing how many different kinds of people there are in the world, and how many unique styles. The Magnificent Mile isn’t just about shopping it also reveals the true face of the city, with its towering modern buildings and vibrant energy.
